Welcome From the Program Director
Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at AdventHealth Tampa, where our commitment to excellence in medical education, and a holistic approach to patient care is at the heart of everything we do.
Our program is rapidly expanding, growing to 60 categorical Internal Medicine residents by 2028, alongside Transitional Year, General Surgery, OB/GYN, and EM residencies, as well as Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Critical Care fellowships -- bringing together more than 100 learners across disciplines. We are proud of our residents: a talented, collaborative, and supportive group who share a passion for learning and for providing compassionate care.
At AdventHealth, we embrace a philosophy of whole-person care—addressing body, mind, and spirit. Respect and professionalism are core values of our program, guiding how we care for our patients and how we work with each other. We expect our residents to extend respect to everyone, regardless of background or role, fostering a collegial environment where growth and learning flourish.
Our curriculum is structured on a 4+1 schedule, balancing robust inpatient rotations with protected continuity clinic time. A night float system manages admissions and floor coverage, eliminating traditional call duties and allowing residents to focus on patient care and education. Our inpatient workflow is carefully designed to promote both autonomy and supervision, preparing our residents to succeed in the next stage of their careers.
If you are a dedicated and ambitious medical student seeking a program that will both challenge and support you, we invite you to explore AdventHealth’s Internal Medicine Residency Program in Tampa. For us “wellness” is not only a word. We live it!
You can expect to graduate exceptionally well-trained from a highly accredited program, trained in up-to-date medicine and able to place line and use POCUS, ready to make a meaningful difference in the field of internal medicine.
