AdventHealth Hendersonville Names New Nutritional Services Director

AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to name Mary Hackney CDM, DTR as its new Nutritional Services Director. Hackney has more than eight years of comprehensive experience in nutritional services, prior to her role with AdventHealth.

Hackney earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Western Carolina University in 2011. Before becoming the Nutritional Service Director for AdventHealth Hendersonville, Mary worked as the Food Service Director for Complete Care/Accordius Health Asheville.

“I love the idea of caring for the whole-person. My educational background is in Nutrition and Dietetics. I truly believe in the power of good nutrition and its ability to heal us faster and help us live longer lives,” says Hackney. “The culture that AdventHealth has created drew me in immediately. I believe that each person, patient and co-worker has individual needs and by having a wholistic care approach, the individual is more likely to be cared for properly. I am very excited about being a part of this team.”

“Mary has a passion for compassionate care and is committed to developing relationships and processes that best serve our patients,” says Mark Murrill, AdventHealth Hendersonville Administrative Director, Physician Services and Hospital Operations. “I am delighted to have her as our new Nutritional Services Director and look forward to having her expertise as we continue to provide exceptional, whole-person care to our communities.”

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her 7-year-old son, Jacob. They love to watch movies, bake together, play outside at the beautiful parks in Asheville, kayak and swim. When asked what makes her “feel whole” she responded, “Feeling whole for me means eating healthy nutritious foods, spending time with family, and being active, especially in the sunshine!”
