AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation Receives Grant for Falls Prevention

Hendersonville, NC (May 28, 2019) — The AdventHealth Hendersonville Foundation is excited to announce it has been awarded a $13,000 grant from the Perry Rudnick Fund through the Community Foundation of Henderson County to help support the efforts of the Western North Carolina Falls Prevention Coalition-Henderson County Chapter and its initiatives for Fall Prevention for Older Adults aged 65 and above.

AdventHealth Home Care Western North Carolina will use this $13,000 grant to support outreach and implementation of fall prevention initiatives consisting of A Matter of Balance classes (evidence-based, 16-hour program), Building Better Balance screenings, monthly free balance screening events, physician trainings, and a Falls Screening initiative with Meals On Wheels participants. These events will be hosted at locations throughout Henderson County. AdventHealth Home Care Western North Carolina will serve a total of 642 individuals in the community through these efforts. These funds will also go towards an exhibitor or speaker at two conferences throughout the year, sharing project details with 300 caregivers and adults in attendance.

“The Falls Prevention Grant will enable older adults the opportunities they need to reduce their risk of falls,” says Linda Lauzon, AdventHealth Home Care WNC. “With the generous support of the Community Foundation of Henderson County, we are able to move forward with these projects. This support allows us help those who are fearful of getting out and doing what they love because of their fear of falls. Our goal is to give them every resource they need to get back to feeling whole.”
