N.C., — AdventHealth Hendersonville Announces Inaugural Winner of the Sunshine Award

Jan. 26, 2021; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to introduce you to the first recipient of its new Sunshine Award. Melissa Metcalf, CMA is part of the AdventHealth Medical Group Psychiatry team.

Melissa earned this award because of her dedication to take patient care beyond the doors of AdventHealth clinics. She has been a vital part of the AdventHealth Food Prescription program for patients across our system who are food insecure.

Her nomination came from AdventHealth Hendersonville Population Health Manager, Cindy Conner, BSN, RN, CCM. Cindy shared that Melissa has come in on her days off and after hours to deliver countless bags of groceries to patients who have referrals for the food prescription program. “She wants to ensure the patients do not go hungry because they live outside the delivery area for the grocery stores working with our food prescription program.”

AdventHealth Nursing Leadership created the Sunshine Award to recognize ancillary team members who strive for excellence in their profession, consistently deliver exceptional care, uphold the highest standards and collaborate with the AdventHealth nursing teams to enhance the experience of our patients, family members and guests while Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ.

AdventHealth ancillary departments include respiratory services, imaging, laboratory services, nutritional services, engineering, security, and bio-med.
