For the third time, both hospitals in the Metroplex Health System, AdventHealth Central Texas in Killeen and AdventHealth Rollins Brook in Lampasas, were nationally recognized for achievements in patient safety and quality.  Metroplex was named a Top General Hospital, and Rollins Brook was named a Top Rural Hospital by The Leapfrog Group. The Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is awarded by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization.

“We know that high-quality care is a given expectation when it comes to healthcare,” said Carlyle Walton, president and CEO of Metroplex Health System. “To be recognized nationally as a Top General Hospital at Metroplex and a Top Rural Hospital at Rollins Brook is truly an honor. This recognition affirms the dedication to excellence of the Metroplex and Rollins Brook teams. I thank every employee, volunteer, and member of our medical staff for the vital role you play in providing the highest quality care for our community.”

Metroplex and Rollins Brook are ranked nationally alongside:

  • 10 Top Children’s Hospitals
  • 45 Top General Hospitals
  • 18 Top Rural Hospitals
  • 36 Top Teaching Hospitals

Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award. Those areas including infection rates, maternity care, and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.

“We are proud to recognize Metroplex as a 2017 Leapfrog Top Hospital. To be a recipient of these awards demonstrates extraordinary dedication to patients and the local community. The entire staff and board deserve praise for putting quality first and achieving results,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of Leapfrog.

To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must submit a Leapfrog Hospital Survey. The selection of Top Hospitals 2017 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals. To see the full list of institutions honored as 2017 Top Hospitals, visit www.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.
