Signs It May Be Time for Hospice
There are signs that the time for hospice might be near, but you won't be alone for this transition. Inspired by Christ's love, we're honored to guide you and your loved one through this next chapter.
Some patients may benefit from receiving hospice care sooner than maybe planned. Extended hospice care may result in more quality time surrounded by family and friends, better-managed pain and symptoms and more support for family and caregivers.
In addition to a terminal illness, signs it might be time for hospice include:
- A decline in overall physical or mental status
- Unintentional weight loss in the previous six months
- Frequent hospitalizations or ER visits
- Repeat illnesses like pneumonia, bronchitis or urinary tract infections
- Multiple medical problems or diagnoses
- Assistance with most daily activities like bathing, dressing, toileting and eating
Our Hospice Testimonials
QuoteMy father passed away peacefully at Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast. I am challenged to find adequate words that best convey how deeply appreciative and thankful I am for the hospice care team’s support and compassion during that time. During every step of my father’s illness, the team was there to support and help navigate me through it. Every step of the way, the team was mindful to, at all costs, honor my Dad’s wishes. I find much peace in knowing that during my father’s final hours, he, too, was at peace and free of any pain or discomfort and was surrounded by the most caring and compassionate staff I could ever have hoped for. I will forever be grateful for the difference and impact this incredible team has had on my life. They are truly angels in every sense of the word.

Our Hospice Testimonials
QuoteHospice is a place for weary folks to lay their hats at the door and come into a world of love and commitment like no other. Patients and their loved ones depend on each of us on the hospice team to help carry their heartaches. Kindness knows no religion, gender, race or creed. I am honored to be called and privileged to serve my brothers and sisters every day while I am at my hospice job. We are the team that is honored to be here when you need us. Personally, I ask myself every day what I have done to earn this honor, but I already know what that is. It’s part of my journey to share in yours, and I am filled with the love I receive from people who need me. I am so blessed!

Our Hospice Testimonials
QuoteI have the pleasure of visiting hospice patients with my service dog Ginger. Ginger, who was found wandering the streets of Ormond Beach, Florida, now gets to rescue us. She has a natural knack for visiting and looks forward to her weekly visits. I, too, look forward to the visits as a way of remembrance of my mother, who passed away due to cancer. Many patients and visitors are relieved to have a short break from their current stress and anxiety to socialize with Ginger.
