AdventHealth Celebrates Hospital Week and Nurses Week

AdventHealth Manchester (AHM) celebrated its nearly 600 team members through awards and recognition programs and fun events each day of the week.

AHM kicked off the week’s celebrations with our in-person Forward Together event, where team members nominated their departments and teammates who have exemplified our Service Standards of Love Me, Keep Me Safe, Own It, and Make it Easy. Congratulations to the following recipients! AHM is grateful for your commitment to our service standards and blessed to have you on our team.

Team members also received an AdventHealth keychain; enjoyed lunch from Talkin’ Tacos Food Truck; Hot fudge cakes from Sweet Treats; and ice cream from Moody Cows Rolled Ice Cream Truck during the week’s festivities.

AHM celebrated team members with the Blessing of the Hands – a ceremony of affirmation of the service you give to others. AHM’s chaplain and CMI specialist prayed a special prayer of blessing over the hands of their team members as they carry out their mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ.

May these hands bring comfort and healing to those they touch to the honor and glory of God. May Your presence be in all that I do. Renew in me awareness of Your sustaining love that touches me each day, opening the eyes of my heart to see that You touch the world through the work of my hands. Amen

On Thursday, May 12th, AHM nurses were celebrated and honored during the Shine Your Light, A Candlelight Service. This day of celebration for our nurses was themed “Abundant Life Ambassadors.” AHM’s Nurse of the Year and our Nurse Hall of Fame inductees were announced and celebrated during this candlelight ceremony and a Nurses Prayer was prayed by service participants. Congratulations to Nurse of the Year – Peggy Smith, RN and Nurse Hall of Fame inductee – Donna Cochran, RN!

For many, the celebrations this week were a chance to get to know AHM’s new CEO, Sissel Jacob, a little better. Jacob shared her enthusiasm regarding joining the AHM team, saying:

I am so excited to be in this new role with these incredible caregivers and community partners. Every day, I see them giving their all to make sure we are caring for people across our community and fulfilling our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ. It is an honor to be surrounded by so many who have a heart and compassion for our patients and communities.

To every team member: We celebrate your hard work and dedication. We know building a stronger community starts with you.

To every nurse: We celebrate those who work so hard to deliver expert care and comfort when it’s needed most. Thank you to the nurses who help our community feel whole.
