N.C., New Addition to The Baby Place at AdventHealth Hendersonville Enhances Exceptional Care for Moms and Babies

Apr. 25, 2023; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville is committed to providing exceptional, whole-person care for moms and babies. As part of this commitment, AdventHealth Hendersonville is now partnering with the OB Hospitalist Group (OBHG) to provide board-certified OB/GYN’s hospitalists that offer on-site, 24-hour-a-day, labor and delivery care at The Baby Place.

Every patient coming to The Baby Place can count on an experienced OB hospitalist being on-site to provide consistent, comprehensive, quality medical care to women who are pregnant or have just given birth. They provide emergency care prior to the arrival of the patient's own doctor, support high-risk pregnancy patients and deliver babies for patients who don’t have an obstetrician.

The OB Hospitalist Group is the industry’s largest, dedicated OB/GYN hospitalist provider. The group’s board-certified and experienced clinicians are trained in best practices specific to OB hospitalist medicine. They partner with the patient’s regular OB/GYN physician, to review medical records and birth plans to accommodate specific delivery wishes, depending on medical circumstances.

“Knowing you can count on highly-qualified physicians to be here whenever baby is ready to make their appearance helps moms feel safe and supported in what can be an exciting and overwhelming time,” shares Teresa Herbert, MD, MPH, FAAP, Chief Medical Officer for AdventHealth Hendersonville. “Bringing on the OB Hospitalist Group solidifies our promise of whole-person care for our moms and babies. Our AdventHealth Medical Group OB/GYN physicians can count on a trusted colleague to be on-site for their patients should they be delayed in arriving at the hospital.”

In addition to handling deliveries, OB hospitalists assist with any issues and emergencies that may arise. This includes anything from elevated blood pressure to more serious issues that may require immediate surgery. With data showing that hospitals with OB hospitalist programs have few perinatal safety events and fewer cesarean deliveries, adding the OB hospitalist program to The Baby Place aligns with AdventHealth’s promise to keep patient safety at the center of care.
