AdventHealth Hendersonville Nurse Recognized for Outstanding Patient Care

N.C., AdventHealth Hendersonville Nurse Recognized for Outstanding Patient Care

August 10, 2020; HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – AdventHealth Hendersonville is home to some of the most amazing nurses and it is a privilege to introduce you to the latest member of this team to win the DAISY Award, Jessica Shuford, BSN, RN. Jessica is part of the AdventHealth Hematology Oncology Infusion Services Asheville. Jessica and her fellow nurses care for patients requiring infusion for cancer care and blood diseases.

AdventHealth selected Jessica for the DAISY award based on a nomination from one of her fellow team members. Here is an excerpt from Jessica’s nomination:

Jessica is a wonderful nurse and coworker. She goes above and beyond for her patients. She had a patient who was self-conscious about his urostomy bag. She sewed him a cover for it. She has gone to the store for an immunocompromised patient so that he wouldn't have to go during COVID-19. As a coworker, she is always there to lend a helping hand.

Jessica exemplifies the AdventHealth Service Standards of Keep Me Safe, Love Me, Make It Easy, and Own It. As you can see from her nomination, Jessica fulfills these standards with every person, every time.

The DAISY Award was created by the family of J. Patrick Barnes to thank the nurses who cared for Patrick and for them as he battled an autoimmune disease. Patrick lost his battle, but his family realized the impact his nurses had on the final days of his life. For that they are forever grateful. They wanted to create an opportunity for all families who experience the benefits of the extraordinary care of nurses to show their appreciation.

The AdventHealth Nursing Administration presented Jessica Shuford, BSN, RN, with a gift package including:

  • DAISY Award Certificate
  • DAISY Award Pin
  • “A Healer’s Touch” Sculpture
