Mardy Donasco has spent her entire nursing career with AdventHealth, beginning in 1997.
Along with her husband, who is also a team member of AdventHealth, she raised her three daughters, while balancing the demands and rewards of the job she loves.
“I can’t imagine doing anything else,” said Donasco, AdventHealth Palm Coast and Palm Coast Parkway, chemo, peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) and venous access services RN.
Nursing has shaped every chapter of her life, both personally and professionally.
She is the first nurse in her family, however, now her other two siblings are also nurses.
After working the night shift for a long time, Donasco realized that there was a way for her to help make her team members feel more appreciated, and she jumped at the opportunity.
In her free time, she takes photos of team members, especially those working the night shift to share the great mission of the organization.
“I enjoy taking photos for the team members because I love to do it,” she said. “I volunteer because I find joy in helping others, it's one way of giving back and pleasing God, too. It is fun networking with other team members.”
Her passion for people shines through in the way she lifts up those around her.
“I am just happy doing it, because I know small and simple acts of kindness can make a big difference,” she said. “Above all, it pleases God.”
Over the years, her team has become like family. They care for patients and each other through every shift.
Outside of work, Donasco volunteers every day before her shift at the hospital.
She has been volunteering at a local school for the last year and a half by helping teachers with students who are driven to school.
“While it’s only 15 minutes every day, it’s fun to volunteer,” she said.
This Nurses Week, we honor Donasco for her incredible heart, dedication, and the joyful spirit she brings to AdventHealth every day.
