AdventHealth Avista has taken a significant step toward addressing food insecurity, a key priority identified in its Community Health Needs Assessment by opening a food pantry on its first floor. This initiative ensures easy access for both patients and associates, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to whole-person care and its mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ.
“This project was a result of brainstorming on how we could support our patients and team members,” said Mary Ann Littler, Chief Development Officer, AdventHealth Avista Foundation. “Once Natalie and I ran the idea past our leadership, we were both determined to make it happen by the holidays. The result was truly a team effort with people from multiple departments to get the space ready. Our partnership with Community Food Share, the local food pantry for Boulder County provided guidance, support, and the food. We are very excited to be able to support our patients and our team members with the opportunity to shop for healthy food. This is all a part of our Mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ to our community.”
“This project is an example of the many ways that we live out our mission daily for our patients and team members!” added Natalie Ingmire, Director of Quality and Patient Safety Officer. “Thank you to all of the teams that worked hard on this project. In a short amount of time we were able to transform a room into this new beautiful space that will be able to serve many people.”
The collaboration reflects AdventHealth Avista’s leadership and deep connection to the community, demonstrating how strategic partnerships can create meaningful impact. By meeting a critical need, the hospital continues to strengthen its role as a trusted health partner and advocate for well-being beyond clinical care.
