Altamonte Springs - Before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, over 2,000 volunteers annually contributed their time at AdventHealth hospitals across Central Florida. Now, AdventHealth is 900 short of that number.
“It feels great to volunteer at the hospital,” said Melissa Stebbins, volunteer at AdventHealth Altamonte Springs, during a recent interview with WESH-2 News.
The health care system is now recruiting hundreds of volunteers for different positions throughout the Central Florida region. Volunteers create positive impact in the lives of patients, visitors, and team members.
“This is a valuable service that the hospital provides,” said Marvin Lowman, volunteer at AdventHealth Altamonte Springs. Lowman volunteers two times a week driving a trolley cart around the hospital campus providing rides to patients, guests and team members.
From pet therapy to guest services, there are many volunteer opportunities at AdventHealth.
Some of the many proven benefits of volunteering are learning new skills, developing communications practices, building new relationships, and improving overall health. AdventHealth has taken measures to maintain the health of volunteers making it safe for them and providing them with an opportunity to give back to the community.
