WESTMONT, Ill. — UChicago Medicine AdventHealth’s promise to our patients is to help every person feel whole in body, mind and spirit. Our hospitals have an unwavering commitment to creating a safe, healing environment where patients can focus on healing, recover more quickly and return to what matters most.
Today, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook, Hinsdale and La Grange have earned “A” safety grades from The Leapfrog Group, ranking them among the safest hospitals in the nation for their performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, infections and other patient harm. The grades were published in the fall 2025 edition of Leapfrog’s semiannual Hospital Safety Grade report.
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Hinsdale and La Grange hospitals have now earned “A” grades for 25 consecutive grading periods, dating back to Leapfrog’s fall 2013 report. UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook hospital has maintained its “A” rating for seven consecutive periods since fall 2022. UChicago Medicine AdventHealth GlenOaks, located in Glendale Heights, received a “B” grade.
“These national safety grades reaffirm our commitment to patients that their safety is our highest priority,” said Monica Reed, M.D., president and chief executive officer of UChicago Medicine AdventHealth. “Our caregivers work tirelessly to ensure every patient receives whole-person care in an environment designed to protect and heal. These grades reflect the trust our communities place in us, and we embrace this responsibility every day.”
Leapfrog, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety, assigns grades of “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” to general hospitals nationwide based on more than 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“My sincere congratulations to UChicago Medicine AdventHealth for upholding patient safety standards through thick and thin, achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade for multiple consecutive rounds of the Safety Grade,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Consistently earning an A demonstrates a long-term, organization-wide commitment to putting patient safety first.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, injuries and infections that can lead to harm or even death. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
