Zephyrhills, FL…January 2, 2020… – For the fourth consecutive year, AdventHealth Zephyrhills has been named one of America’s Best Hospitals for patient safety, heart care, stroke centers and orthopedics out of 4,910 hospitals nationally by the Women’s Choice Award®. This award empowers females to make wise health care decisions by identifying the country’s best health care institutions based on very strict criteria that include data, clinical outcomes, and overall patient experience.
AdventHealth Zephyrhills made the top eight percentile for patient safety in the United States, which means it’s one of 379 hospitals nationally to be the best in this category. According to the Women’s Choice Award®, this demonstrates that individuals will have one of the safest patient experiences while at AdventHealth Zephyrhills. It also means the patient is at a much lower risk for acquiring a medical condition while hospitalized other than the one for which he or she is being treated.
AdventHealth Zephyrhills fell in the top eight percentile of U.S. hospitals, too, for its treatment of heart care, and only 399 hospitals met this highest standard for heart care by the Women’s Choice Award.® According to the American Heart Association, more U.S. women will succumb to heart disease in 2020 than any other health condition. AdventHealth Zephyrhills received this award for consistently demonstrating the ability to treat heart attacks and other cardiac emergencies with one of the nation’s highest success rates.
For stroke, AdventHealth Zephyrhills was in the top nine percentile of all hospitals, and only 414 hospitals were recognized in this area by the Women’s Choice Award®. To receive the stroke centers award, a hospital must have The Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center. AdventHealth Zephyrhills attained this two-year certification in 2017 and again in 2019. Additionally, the award factors in 30-day stroke mortality and readmission rates. AdventHealth Zephyrhills was also evaluated for stroke care based on the number of patients who received a head CT scan result within 45 minutes of arriving at the hospital and fibrinolytic therapy. The latter is a process that prevents blood clots from growing and becoming problematic.
For orthopedics, AdventHealth Zephyrhills made the top 10 percentile of hospitals that offers this service line, and 479 hospitals in the United States received this award. Hospitals selected for the honor were evaluated on six orthopedic clinical outcomes and patient experience. Additionally, the heath care institutions awarded must offer arthroscopy (a minimally invasive surgical procedure on a joint in which the exam or treatment is performed using an arthroscope), joint replacement and spine surgery, onsite physical therapy, and an MRI. AdventHealth Zephyrhills offers all these things and more.
