Jocelyn Villanueva was recognized with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses for her loving empathy and for going above and beyond to provide comfort for a patient and her family.
AdventHealth Murray is proud to announce that Jocelyn Villanueva, RN, has been honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, a recognition that celebrates the compassionate care nurses provide every day.
Jocelyn was chosen for her loving empathy in the face of difficult news for a patient’s family. When this patient entered hospice care, Jocelyn went above and beyond to make her last days filled with kindness, excellent care, and a listening ear for her family.
Jocelyn’s nomination said, in part: “Her demeanor and soft-spoken nature and empathy for our situation was so genuine. Jocelyn listened to our story and gave us a shoulder to lean on. There were other nurses, aides and doctors who we also came in contact with who were exceptional. The grace we were shown in this difficult time was immeasurable. We had quite a few visitors and family members come in to visit mom each day. We laughed and we cried as we shared stories of our mom’s life. We had an emotional 4 or 5 days at AdventHealth Murray as we watched our mother transition. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors at AdventHealth Murray... your kindness and empathy will not be forgotten."
The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation to honor nurses who go above and beyond in their service to patients and families. Jocelyn joins a distinguished group of nurses across the country who have demonstrated excellence in clinical skill and extraordinary compassion.
