Construction on the Freytag Health Plaza set to begin at AdventHealth Palm Coast this Fall

Construction of the AdventHealth Palm Coast Freytag Health Plaza will begin in the coming months on the hospital campus near State Road 100.

Named in honor and recognition of a gift from Palm Coast residents Peter and Sue Freytag, this two-story facility will serve as a vital hub for comprehensive cancer treatment, primary care services, and adult rehabilitation services.

“We are proud to be a part of this community and are committed to making it a healthier place to live,” said Sue Freytag. “It is an honor to have the opportunity to help people in our community get the best care without having to travel.”

“My father always said charity begins at home,” said Peter Freytag. “By that, he meant the first thing you have to do is take care of your family. Once your family is taken care of, then you should take care of your community.”

Peter is a cancer survivor, which makes this project very dear to Peter and Sue’s heart.

“Everybody knows someone who has had cancer, just as our family has been impacted by cancer,” Peter said. “We know that this is a very personal and difficult journey, and we want to do everything we can to support others facing this challenge."

Spanning an impressive 30,000 square feet, the Freytag Health Plaza at AdventHealth Palm Coast will house a range of specialized cancer treatment services, including radiation oncology and medical oncology, and will offer advanced therapies and personalized cancer care. The Judith C. Macko Cancer Resource Center will also relocate to the Freytag Health Plaza, providing free resources to patients and their families.

The Freytag Health Plaza will also provide adult rehabilitation services, including outpatient physical, occupational and speech language pathology for orthopedic, hand, neurological, and lymphedema specialties. The new facility will also include multiple physician offices within the plaza to further facilitate seamless and comprehensive care.

“While we are thrilled to be opening a second hospital in Flagler County next month, we are also excited to begin construction on the Freytag Health Plaza at our current hospital location,” said Denyse Bales-Chubb, president and CEO for AdventHealth Palm Coast and the Flagler/St. Johns market. “This new facility represents an additional $30 million investment in enhancing the care available to our growing community.”

The architect for the AdventHealth Palm Coast Freytag Health Plaza is Orlando-based Hunton & Brady and the contractor is Robins & Morton, also from the Orlando area.

Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2023 and be completed in the spring of 2024.
