- Innovative Maternity Care
Your child's safety is your biggest concern. It's ours too. Our dedicated, specially trained staff is here 24/7, helping you down any path you envision: from a low-intervention birth to a C-section or anything in between. Our Birth Center is equipped with the latest in safety standards, including a Hugs® Infant security system, while our next-generation wireless fetal monitoring helps moms like you walk around during labor (which studies show can hasten delivery times).
If you're interested in a vaginal birth after a previous Cesarean Section (VBAC), our OB hospitalist program ensures a board-certified obstetrician is onsite at all times to assist your personal physician, opening up the possibility of a VBAC to moms who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity. We go above and beyond to help you feel safe, secure and comfortable while you’re under our care.

- Screenings and Extra Care
You’re ready to protect your child with everything you’ve got. That starts even before you meet your precious bundle. We want to help ease any concerns of health risks with clear, specific answers and expert prenatal care. At AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Maternal Fetal Specialists, we start with an open conversation about your wellness and full family health history. Then, we’ll combine these insights with comprehensive tests. Our dedicated and comprehensive maternal fetal specialists offer both outpatient and inpatient services, working together with your full health care team to screen for and manage any potential risks with genetic counseling, level II ultrasounds and more.
If during pregnancy or delivery you or your baby should ever need an extra level of care, we have some of the most-advanced maternity care in Johnson County. Our Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) includes specially trained neonatologists, neonatal nurses, nurse practitioners, and more who are ready to help care for your bundle of joy. If your child needs extra care, we partner with Children's Mercy to give your child access to specialty services like pediatric surgery, radiology, oncology, pathology and more. No matter the need, big or small, we’re here to help.
- Easing the Pain of Loss. Helping You Find Healing.
Should you experience a heartbreaking loss, know that you’re not alone. We’re here to provide a comforting, private space to grieve.
