Outpatient Services Entrance
Our new outpatient services entrance is now open. Access Outpatient Services from 73rd Terrace, just off East Frontage Road.
- The outpatient services entrance is to the left of the Cancer Institute. It is clearly marked Outpatient Services.
- Valet is only available at the main entrance.
- When you enter, take the elevator or staircase up one level to check in for your appointment.

At AdventHealth, formerly Shawnee Mission Health, we know how stressful a visit to the hospital can be, so we’ve tried to make it a little easier. Browse our three hospital gift shops, take advantage of our free valet parking and, above all, keep visiting your loved one. Your presence and support is an important part of their healing process.

Making it Easier for You to Care Visitor Resources at AdventHealth
- Visiting Hours

Your visits strengthen your loved ones, and we want you to feel welcome here. Our general visiting hours are between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm. To find out about staying overnight with your loved one, simply ask a nurse. Visiting guidelines for AdventHeath Shawnee Mission and its specific areas are listed below:
For AdventHealth Prairie Star's, formerly known as AdventHealth Lenexa, visiting hours, call Call913-676-8500.
For AdventHealth South Overland Park's visiting hours, call Call913-373-1100.Intensive Care Unit
In the ICU, your loved one’s immediate family and/or significant other may visit anytime during general visiting hours as long as your loved one approves. We encourage up to three visitors at a time in the ICU.
Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Unit
Visiting hours are 5:30 pm to 7 pm. For children under 12, visiting hours are 5 pm to 5:30 pm.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Parents may visit the NICU at any time. We ask for only two visitors at a time, one of whom must be the baby’s parent or guardian. Siblings may visit at the discretion of the baby’s physician or nurse.
Birth Center
Your loved one’s care team will establish visiting hours based upon your loved one’s condition, needs, and desires. Parent/spouse may visit at any time. For the safety of those in our care, please do not bring latex balloons to the Birth Center. While you’re here visiting your loved one, we're here to serve. Learn about our onsite retail options and extensive visiting hours. We’re making it easier to support the people you care about.

Hospital Gift Shop
Brighten your loved one’s day with balloons, flowers, or reading material. AdventHealth Shawnee Mission's gift shop is located on the second floor just behind the front desk at the main entrance. To contact the gift shop, call Call913-676-6813.

- Monday through Friday: 9 am to 4 pm

We’re eager to support you in every way possible. Every Wednesday at 9 am, we pray for the people in our care. To request a prayer for your loved one, fill out our online form.
- Pastoral Care

A hospital stay can be an unexpected, anxious and a lonely time, not only for loved ones, but family and friends as well. AdventHealth Shawnee Mission knows that your spiritual care is also an important part of the healing process. That’s why members of the Department of Pastoral Care are available to you and your loved ones during your time in the hospital, providing you with spiritual care and support.
