The local lung cancer community is coming together for the 10th Annual Shine a Light on Lung Cancer event, and this year, the program includes Dinner with the Docs to dive deeper into education about lung cancer.

Calhoun will join more than 200 cities where Shine a Lights will be taking place in healthcare facilities this November for Lung Cancer Awareness Month. In conjunction with Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA), the Harris Radiation Therapy Center at Gordon Hospital is hosting the event on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 5:30 pm in Conference Room E (enter through the East entrance).

The purpose of this event is to bring education, hope, inspiration, and support to the Gordon County lung cancer community, said Lanell Jacobs, director of oncology services at Gordon Hospital. This event is one way we can honor those impacted by lung cancer.

According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer is the second most common cancer in both men and women, excluding skin cancer. Each year, more people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined.

The event is free, and dinner will be served. To register for this event, please call Call706-879-5850.
