Guzman receives Paramedic of the Year award from Calhoun Elks Lodge

Victor Guzman of AdventHealth Gordon EMS was recently presented the Paramedic of the Year award from the Calhoun Elks Lodge.

Each year, the Calhoun Elks Lodge holds the Lodge Awards where different people from the community and the club are honored. Guzman was nominated by Michael Etheridge, director of AdventHealth Gordon EMS, with the following words: “Lieutenant Victor Guzman is a 15-year veteran of public safety work in Gordon County and other surrounding communities and continues to have a passion for helping. He works hard daily to make our community a safer place to live.

“Victor takes pride in performing his daily job duties and serving as lieutenant. Victor’s work ethic and knowledge of pre-hospital medicine makes him an exceptional candidate for this award. He is responsible for many aspects of operations at AdventHealth Gordon EMS. Victor assists with the quality assurance program to help evaluate employee performance and serves as a field training officer to orient new employees and to help train current employees.

“Above and beyond these duties Victor fulfills at AdventHealth Gordon EMS, he is also in charge of the bike team, which is available to serve our community during special events and provides emergency care quickly by getting an ambulance to the scene. Victor has also taken it upon himself to be certified as a bilingual interpreter to better serve our community. He has received many awards during his tenure at AdventHealth Gordon EMS which include the “Life Saver” and “New Life” awards. Victor is dedicated to AdventHealth Gordon EMS, AdventHealth Gordon and our community. He shows up on time for his assigned shifts and is always prepared to step in and assist from the minute he walks in the door.”
