Healing From the Inside Out
You’ve seen enough medical dramas on television to have an idea about what happens during a surgery. Take away about 98 percent of the drama, add a highly trained surgical team, and you’ll have an idea that’s much closer to the truth. At AdventHealth Dade City, formerly Florida Hospital Dade City, your surgical team will use advanced technology and the most minimally invasive surgery options possible to provide the care you need, when you need it. And they’ll be on hand before and after your surgical procedure to answer your questions and make sure you know what to expect through every stage of your treatment and recovery. It’s all part of our whole-person approach to care — along with helping to heal your body, we want to send you home with peace of mind, a renewed spirit, and a brighter outlook on the path ahead.

- Surgical Procedures We Perform
You want to get back home and back to your life as quickly as possible after a surgical procedure. We want that for you, too. That’s why, whenever possible, we use minimally invasive surgery techniques that reduce scarring, risk of infection, and recovery time. Our surgeons are leaders in incisionless, minimally invasive, single-incision laparoscopic, and other laparoscopic techniques. Minimally invasive surgical procedures we regularly perform include:
- Cholecystectomy (Gallbladder Removal)
- Hernia Repair
- Reproductive Medicine/Urogynecology
Facing surgery can be daunting and stressful. We work hard to make sure you’re informed and comfortable throughout your treatment and recovery.
- Same-Day Surgery
You hit the ground running every day, maximize your time by multitasking, and revel in a “To-Do List” well done. Getting same-day surgery is right up your alley. Should you be required to add “surgery” to your daily task list, we’re here for you with an advanced surgical suite featuring five operating rooms for in-patient and outpatient services. Same-day surgeries we regularly perform include:
- Breast Biopsy
- Carpal Tunnel Release
- Cystoscopy – a procedure that allows your doctor to examine your urethra and the lining of your bladder.
- Laparoscopic Gallbladder
- Lithotripsy – a treatment that typically uses ultrasound shock waves to break down kidney- and gallstones.
- Shoulder Arthroscopy
While you’re having your surgical procedure, we’ll give your family members a pager that allows them to move around the hospital without losing contact with our surgical staff. As soon as you’re in the recovery room, they’ll know about it and will be welcome to wait with you until you’re ready to go home.
- Minimally Invasive Endoscopy Services
You may remember back when surgery was called “going under the knife.” With the developments in surgical techniques, however, that’s not so true anymore. In fact, thanks to minimally invasive surgery procedures like endoscopy, the scalpel is no longer the primary tool we use in surgical situations.
As an alternative, your doctor may utilize endoscopy to examine, diagnose, and treat various areas inside your body using an endoscope, which is a thin, flexible tube fitted with a light and camera. Our surgeons employ a number of different endoscopic procedures, including:
- Arthroscopy helps us see inside your joints.
- Bronchoscopy examines your airways and lungs.
- Colonoscopy examines your large intestine and rectum.
- Enteroscopy studies your small intestine.
- Laparoscopy explores your abdomen or pelvis.
- Sigmoidoscopy assesses the lower part of your colon.
- Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (EGD) examines your esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine, also known as the duodenum.

At AdventHealth Dade City, we do more than just help heal your body; we also aim to ease your mind, lift your spirit, and get you back to whole health as soon as possible.
