AdventHealth hospitals in the Lake, Volusia, and Flagler counties received a major gift from Bruce Adams representing Robins and Morton to benefit several programs including Neuroscience in Daytona Beach.

The Neuroscience program at AdventHealth Daytona Beach is on track to be the number one program in Volusia County. It will provide affordable, high-quality care and services in neurological, neurosurgical, and interventional neuroradiology (INR) treatment.

In 2020, there was a 22% increase in the number of stroke care patients at AdventHealth Daytona Beach. With the help of this gift from Robins and Morton, AdventHealth Daytona Beach will be able to serve as the “hub” for comprehensive, advanced stroke care in Volusia and Flagler Counties.

When someone has a stroke, every second counts. AdventHealth Daytona Beach will be able to expand the current lab to build a comprehensive stroke care biplane suite dedicated to the INR program and an additional biplane suite near the Emergency Department; meaning we will be able to accept all stroke patients. Without these advancements and additions, stroke patients coming into our ED would be transferred to a different facility even if it is further away; further delaying time-sensitive treatment.

The hospital will have 3 new physicians/surgeons dedicated to the 24/7 INR program with advanced stroke treatment options, becoming a certified comprehensive stroke center. The Comprehensive Stroke Certification is the most demanding stroke certification and is designed for those hospitals that have specific abilities to receive and treat the most complex stroke cases. By adding a continuous EEG program for both adults and children with seizures, we will enable many patients to receive care and treatment right here in our community, close to home.

Over the next 5 years, the 1.25 million dollar gift will not only help expand the vision of the Neuroscience program for AdventHealth Daytona Beach but will also benefit the following:

-Ongoing projects at AdventHealth Deland and New Smyrna

-The new hospital capital campaign at AdventHealth Palm Coast

-COVID Relief, Cancer Care and Cardiac Rehabilitation at AdventHealth Waterman

“My gift represents my strong commitment to the mission of AdventHealth, as well as my belief that the health care provided by AdventHealth will positively impact the health and wellness of our community.” -Bruce Adams

We appreciate Robins and Morton for their generosity and continued commitment to advancing health care in Central Florida. As we look to the future of health care, these programs are key to keeping our patients and greater community healthier.
