We are thrilled to announce Dr. Stacy McConkey as the June 2024 Volunteer of the Month for her exceptional contributions to AdventHealth Sharing Smiles and Global Missions. Dr. McConkey started the pediatric residency program at AdventHealth and has a passion to provide care to children around the world with complex healthcare needs.

She became involved with Global Missions in 2014 at the start of the Operation Sunshine program to provide care to orphaned and at-risk children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Dr. McConkey and her residents made semi-annual trips to Haiti to conduct exams on approximately 500 children in orphanages and children’s homes.
In 2022, AdventHealth's Operation Sunshine expanded to Peru, where Dr. McConkey made multiple trips to Villa Maria del Triunfo, a suburb of Lima, to provide care to underserved children.
Since June 2023, Dr. McConkey has been a driving force in expanding services at Hogar Immanuel in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, beyond physical and feeding therapies to enhance overall wellness for 48 residents.

Dr. McConkey collaborated closely with the local clinicians to conduct thorough evaluations of each resident and establish personalized health goals. Her dedication and expertise have been invaluable in improving the quality of care.
She recently returned from the Philippines where she helped Global Missions provide care to hundreds of children in rural communities in Pangasinan in collaboration with Northern Luzon Adventist Hospital.
Looking ahead, Dr. McConkey is set to return in June 2024 with an expanded team from AdventHealth, including a nutritionist, feeding specialist, pediatrician, and pharmacist. This dedicated group will continue to build on the progress made, ensuring that the residents at Hogar Immanuel receive the best possible care and support.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. McConkey for her unwavering commitment and look forward to her continued involvement and the positive impact she will undoubtedly bring in the coming year.
"It is a privilege to have Dr. McConkey work with Global Missions to extend the healing ministry of Christ around the world," shared Monty Jacobs, Director of AdventHealth Global Missions.
