Mansfield city officials and nearly 200 community leaders joined Texas Health Resources and Adventist Health System on Tuesday at a kick-off event to celebrate the beginning of Texas Health Hospital Mansfield, a new health care campus. Construction begins later this month.
Scheduled to open in late 2020, Texas Health Mansfield will offer a full variety of services including a 24/7 emergency room, general surgery, women's care, orthopedics and interventional cardiology. The four-story, 195,400-square-foot facility will have an initial capacity of 95 beds. At a total cost of $150 million, the campus will also include an 80,000-square-foot medical office building that will house primary care and specialty practices.'
Together, we'll build a community hospital with Mansfield residents in mind,' said Barclay E. Berdan, FACHE, CEO of Texas Health Resources, at the kick-off event. 'Texas Health Mansfield will offer a full range of services and will grow with the community as we partner with residents here for a lifetime of health and well-being.'
The project is a joint venture between Texas Health and Adventist Health System. The two faith-based organizations have a long history of collaboration; Huguley Memorial, an Adventist Health System hospital, affiliated with the Texas Health system in 2012. Now known as Texas Health Huguley Hospital Fort Worth South, the 356-bed facility is a joint venture between the two health systems, serving residents of Ellis, Johnson and Tarrant counties.
'One of our strategic imperatives is about engaging consumers and putting them at the center of their care experience,' said Adventist Health System President and CEO Terry Shaw. 'This commitment manifests in the service standards we employ, spiritual care we offer, care navigation we provide and the tools we develop to help consumers engage in their care.'
Dr. Erica Sails is a family medicine physician who lives in the Mansfield area. She will be opening a clinic in the area this fall and providing care at Texas Health Mansfield when it opens in 2020.
'I have a deep connection to the faith-based missions that these health systems have,' said Sails. 'I believe it is my calling to provide excellent care to the Mansfield community that I love so much, and I am so proud to be one of the first physicians on the team.
'The new Mansfield project, a 38-acre campus located on the southeast corner of U.S. Highway 287 and Lone Star Road in the Johnson County area of Mansfield, will be Texas Health's second major facility in Mansfield, with the Texas Health Recovery and Wellness Center located about 3 miles north of the future hospital site.
Covering 50 square miles, Mansfield is located primarily in southeastern Tarrant County, with areas stretching into Ellis and Johnson counties. The city has expanded rapidly in recent years, with a population growth rate of more than 10 percent from 2011-17.
To address this future growth, all elements of Texas Health Mansfield have the capacity to grow, using an efficient, cost-effective design model.
'We are so excited to bring this wholistic and consumer-focused care to the Mansfield community beginning in 2020,' Shaw said.
