Shawnee Mission Health welcomes six new specialty physicians including Ammar AlKhazna, MD, and Brandon Bowers, MD, Pulmonology; Heath Wilt, DO, Cardiology; Casey Hertzenberg, MD, Cardiothoracic Surgery; and Shannon Robinson, MD, and Sherif Ragab, MD, Psychiatry.
Dr. AlKhazna is certified by the American Board of Critical Care Medicine, the American Board of Pulmonary Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He completed his Bachelor of Science and earned his Medical Doctorate at the Arabian Gulf University College of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Bahrain. Dr. AlKhazna completed his internal medicine residency and served as a Senior Resident at Salmaniya Medical Complex in Bahrain. In addition, he completed the Internal Medicine Residency Program and was a Fellow in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Program at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. He then completed the Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program at Vanderbilt University and most recently served as a staff physician at St. Marys Hospital and Dean Clinic in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. AlKhazna sees patients at Shawnee Mission Pulmonary Consultants, located in the Georgetown Medical Building on the Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) campus.
Dr. Bowers is certified by the American Board of Critical Care Medicine, the American Board of Pulmonary Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Bowers completed his residency and Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Most recently, he served as a staff physician specializing in pulmonary and critical care for Mosaic Life Care. Dr. Bowers sees patients at Shawnee Mission Pulmonary Consultants, located in the Georgetown Medical Building on the SMMC campus.
Dr. Hertzenberg is Board-certified in General Surgery, specializing in cardiothoracic surgery. He graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Hertzenberg completed his General Surgery Residency and Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Dr. Hertzenberg sees patients at Shawnee Mission Cardiovascular Associates locations in the Shawnee Mission Medical Building on the SMMC campus.
Dr. Wilt is Board-certified in Cardiology. He earned his medical degree at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, completed his residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Missouri - Kansas City and completed his Fellowship in Cardiology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Wilt sees patients at Shawnee Mission Cardiovascular Associates locations in the Shawnee Mission Medical Building on the SMMC campus.
Dr. Robinson is an acute-care psychiatrist certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a certified practitioner of Electroconvulsive Therapy. She earned her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Colorado Boulder and earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Dr. Robinson completed her residency at Stanford University Hospital and Clinics in Palo Alto, California. Most recently, she served as the Department Chair and Staff Psychiatrist at Providence Portland Medical Center. Dr. Robinson treats patients at SMMC and is the Medical Director of Behavioral Health.
Dr. Ragab is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He received his medical degree from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and completed his residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where he also served as Chief Resident. Most recently, he served as an outpatient psychiatrist at the Richmond State Supported Living Center in Richmond, Texas. Dr. Ragab treats patients at SMMC.
