Shawnee Mission Health (SMH), a member of Adventist Health System, welcomes four new physicians, including Suzanne Ozbun, MD, Family Medicine; Matthew Butler, MD, Cardiology; Sarah Mingucci, DO, General Surgery; and John Moon, MD, General Surgery. Drs. Mingucci and Moon will open Shawnee Mission General Surgery Consultants, launching the hospital's first practice dedicated to an array of surgical procedures.
Dr. Ozbun is Board-certified in Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Association and Missouri State Medical Association. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Science, cum laude, from Kansas State University and holds a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine internship and residency at the Research Family Medicine Residency Program where she most recently served as a faculty physician and the associate program director of Women's Services. She holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics, Basic Life Support and Fundamental Critical Care Support, among others. Dr. Ozbun provides primary care to children and adults at Shawnee Mission Primary Care-Prairie View Medical Building.
Dr. Butler is Board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology and is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Physicians and the American Academy of Cardiology. He earned a Bachelor of Science with an emphasis in Chemistry from the University of Kansas and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center where he received the Outstanding Medical Student Preceptor Award. He completed his Cardiology fellowship at the University of Florida Shands Medical Center. Most recently, he served as an invasive cardiologist at Cardiovascular Consultants of Kansas and as a volunteer faculty member in Cardiology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine Wichita. Dr. Butler sees patients at Shawnee Mission Cardiovascular Associates on the Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) campus and at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kan.
Dr. Mingucci is Board-eligible in General Surgery and is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons and Osteopathic Surgeons, Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, to name a few. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, summa cum laude, from Mid-America Nazarene University and a Doctorate of Medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. She completed an Osteopathic Traditional Rotating Internship at the University of Missouri-Kansas City; a General Surgery Residency at the Virginia Tech Carilion Clinic General Surgery Program; and a General Surgery Residency at the Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital General Surgery Program, where she also served as Chief Resident for a year. She is certified in Basic, Advanced Cardiovascular and Advanced Trauma Life Support. Dr. Mingucci sees patients at Shawnee Mission General Surgery Consultants in the Santa Fe Medical Building on the SMMC campus.
Dr. Moon is Board-certified in General Surgery and is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Surgeons and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University; a Doctorate of Dental Surgery, cum laude, from Ohio State University College of Dentistry; a Master of Science in Pathology, cum laude, from Ohio State University; and a Doctorate of Medicine and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery from Louisiana State University. He completed a General Surgery Residency at State University of New York Brooklyn and a fellowship in Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Minimally Invasive Surgery at Staten Island University Hospital. Most recently, he worked as a surgeon specializing in general and advanced laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery at Southern California Permanente Medical Group and robotic and advanced laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery at Mission Surgical Clinic. He also served as a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of California at Irvine. He is certified in Basic, Advanced Cardiovascular and Advanced Trauma Life Support. Dr. Moon sees patients at Shawnee Mission General Surgery Consultants in the Santa Fe Medical Building on the SMMC campus.
