Shawnee Mission Health (SMH) welcomes Paul O'Boynick, MD; Mark L. Pemberton, PA-C; Darren Lovick, MD; and Michelle Martin, MSN, APRN, NP-C, CNRN to Shawnee Mission Neurosurgery. The new practice is located in the Shawnee Mission Medical Building on the Shawnee Mission Medical Center campus. Shawnee Mission Neurosurgery will work closely with SMH's physician network to ensure seamless treatment for patients complex neurological conditions.
With the help of the industry's most advanced technology, Shawnee Mission Neurosurgery's Board-certified neurological surgeons are well equipped to deliver highly accurate diagnoses and perform complex surgical procedures. Medtronics O-Arm Multi-dimensional Surgical Imaging System allows surgeons to quickly access 3D images during spinal procedures and improves visualization during complex and minimally invasive surgeries.
"Shawnee Mission Health is dedicated to improving the quality of care for our patients that require Neurosurgical services. We are pleased to expand the Neurosurgical services we are offering with the addition of Drs. O'Boynick and Lovick and the neurosurgery team," said Shawnee Mission Physicians Groups Chief Operating Officer Scott Woods.
Dr. O'Boynick is Board-certified in Neurological Surgery. He earned his medical doctorate at the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. O'Boynick previously served as the Chief of Neurosurgery for the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Mark Pemberton, PA-C earned his bachelors degree in biology at Pittsburg State University and completed the Physicians Assistant Program at Wichita State University. He spent the past 11 years working in tandem with Dr. O'Boynick as a Neurosurgery Physician Assistant and is an active member of the Kansas Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Dr. Lovick is Board-certified in Neurological Surgery. He earned his medical doctorate at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Minnesota Department of Neurosurgery. Previously, Dr. Lovick served as the Director of Neurosurgery for Saint Luke's Health System.
Michelle Martin, MSN, APRN, NP-C, CNRN earned her nursing degree at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. She is RNFA Certified and a Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse, and an active member of the American Association of Neuroscience Nursing.
