She arrived at the AdventHealth Manchester Emergency Room in critical condition — frightened, weak, and unsure of what was happening to her body. From the moment she was admitted, she felt surrounded by compassion and expertise.
“I was in bad shape,” she recalled, “but the care I received was absolutely incredible.”
From attentive nurses who never left her side to Adam Hobbs, whose expert handling of a blood gas test was so gentle she said, “It didn’t even hurt,” every moment was marked by professionalism and kindness.
She shared that Dr. Hayes made the deepest impression.
“He stayed after his shift just to wait on my test results,” she said. “He wanted to make sure a plan of care was ready as soon as possible. He didn’t have to do that, but he did.”
She also described how Dr. Hayes prayed with her, listened to her fears, and showed determination to uncover the cause of her illness.
“I’ve never met a doctor like him. His drive, his heart, his faith — it gave me hope when I had none. Dr. Hayes is the best.”
Though she expressed gratitude to the entire ER team, she made it clear that Dr. Hayes was her hero that night.
