A new Orthopedic Hana Table at AdventHealth Central Texas was unveiled during a dedication ceremony in January.
The table was made possible through donations and fundraising efforts by the AdventHealth Central Texas Foundation. The Foundation organizes three major fundraising events each year, including the AdventHealth Central Texas Sporting Clay Tournament, the AdventHealth Central Texas Fall Golf Classic, and the Gold Star Gala. In 2023, the Gold Star Gala raised funds for a 3D mammogram machine and the Orthopedic Hana Table.
Orthopedic Surgeon Safa Fassihi, MD, brought the need for the Hana Table to the Foundation board. Dr. Fassihi expressed gratitude to the AdventHealth Foundation for making the acquisition possible. “Having this advanced instrument in the local area provides an advantage, as patients no longer have to travel long distances for procedures. They can now receive care closer to home.” Said Dr. Fassihi.
An Orthopedic Hana Table is a specialized surgical table used in orthopedic procedures, particularly for hip replacements. It is designed to provide precise positioning and flexibility for surgeons during surgeries. The table allows for various positions to be achieved, including the anterior approach to total hip replacements. This approach involves accessing the hip joint from the front, rather than the traditional posterior approach, which can lead to faster recovery and reduced pain for patients. The Hana Table enables surgeons to perform these procedures safely and effectively, providing optimal outcomes for patients.
