DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., August 23, 2018 AdventHealth Memorial Medical Center recognized registered nurses Heather Campochiaro and Tiffany Green with the DAISY award.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care provided by nurses.
Campochiaro is nurse on the pediatric unit at AdventHealth Memorial Medical Center. A parent of a patient nominated Campochiaro for the care she gave her daughter.
This nurse is a perfect example of everything a nurse should be. Being in the hospital with a sick child is hard, but she made it a little easier. Her genuine compassion for her patients shows. My daughter's face would light up every time she entered the room. Beyond caring for my daughter, she also alleviated my stress and worries of being away from my other daughter and my home by permeating positive vibes and smiles, the parent wrote in a nomination of Campochiaro. If I had my choice, I would ALWAYS want her to be our nurse! It shows that this is more than a job for her. She is truly a blessing, and I thank her for everything. She is a one-in-a-million nurse. God bless her.
A patient nominated Green, a nurse on AdventHealth Memorial Medical Centers medical care unit.
This nurses knowledge and skills amazed me. She never made me feel like a number. As a patient suffering from anxiety, times can be difficult, and being in pain and being scared makes for a long night. She took her very valuable time to talk with me and even held my hand. Her huge heart still brings me happy and grateful tears, the patient wrote in her nomination of Green. I know that her efforts for me have expedited my healing time, mentally and physically. I am honored to have been a patient of hers.
In recognition of this honor, both Campochiaro and Green received an award pin, a tote bag, and a hand-carved stone sculpture of the Healers Touch by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe. Both of their units also received cinnamon rolls and a DAISY banner to display.
Created in 1999, more than 2,400 healthcare facilities in all 50 states, as well as 14 other countries, use the DAISY Award to honor nurses.
