Gordon Hospital, a member of Adventist Health System, is pleased to welcome Michelle Cowart, RN, as the hospitals new inpatient director. She will be responsible for managing the medical-surgical, progressive care unit (PCU), intensive care unit (ICU), and cardiopulmonary departments.
I have worked in the Gordon community in the past as a home health nurse in the late 1990s and thoroughly enjoyed it, said Michelle. The Gordon community has always been warm and welcoming, not to mention the Gordon Hospital staff who have been wonderful since I started my new position. It feels like coming home.
Michelle achieved her Associate of Science in Nursing at Dalton College. She later graduated from the University of Phoenix with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Michelle has gained immeasurable knowledge through the positions she has held, such as chief nursing officer and director of quality and risk management.
Michelle is a member of the American Rehab Nurses Organization and recently joined the Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders. She also received her Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse certification in December of 2015.
Originally from Chatsworth, Michelle currently resides in Ringgold, Georgia with her husband, Johnny, and her children, Bethany and Sam. Outside of her profession, Michelle likes to focus on her family. Michelle and her husband enjoy watching their daughters East Tennessee State University softball games and spending time with their son who is a cadet at the University of North Georgia.
