Broken bones, sudden pain, trouble breathing — when you’re faced with an emergency situation, it’s only natural to feel shaken and uncertain of what to do. We're here to help. If you experience signs of stroke or heart attack, pain that comes out of nowhere, severe allergies or burns, or any other condition you think could be life-threatening, play it safe. Call 911 immediately to be taken to the closest ER if you experience any of the following:

• Deep Wounds
• Extreme Difficulty Breathing
• Major Head Injury
• Poisoning
• Severe Allergic Reactions
• Severe Burns
• Suspected Heart Attack
• Suspected Stroke

What to Expect When You Visit the ER

Most emergencies are unexpected. But there are some steps you can take to prepare, which will help us provide better, faster treatment. To that end, consider keeping certain helpful information on you at all times, such as the name of your primary care physician, your insurance card, a list of your medications and drug allergies, and any advance directives (like health care proxy or power of attorney).

When you visit either of our 24-hour emergency rooms — at our Wesley Chapel hospital or in central Pasco — you’ll probably have lots of questions. You can count on us to help you answer them.

Because we’re committed to bringing you timely Emergency Care, we use a process called triage to help us prioritize who receives care first. This means a later-arriving patient in a critical condition may receive treatment sooner than an earlier-arriving patient not in a critical condition. But you can trust that we’re committed to helping you heal, which means we’ll do all we can to reduce your wait time and see to your comfort and health.

When you’re feeling under the weather, the last thing you want to do is get dressed and drive yourself to the doctor’s office. That’s why we created Video Visits — to bring you access to high-quality medical care from the comfort of your own home. Via a smartphone, tablet, or desktop, you can speak with a doctor or nurse practitioner about a range of minor ailments, including:

Located on SR 54 and the Suncoast Parkway, is our brand-new free-standing ER. The 18,000-square-foot facility is a year-round, full-service emergency department with 24 beds and state-of-the-art onsite imaging such as x-ray, ultrasound and CT, and onsite laboratory services. The new emergency room is staffed with board-certified emergency medicine physicians as well as nurses who specialize in emergency care. AdventHealth Wesley Chapel also offers ambulance services for patients who come to AdventHealth ER Central Pasco and need to be admitted to the hospital. The AdventHealth Wesley Chapel team members on board are trained in critical care transport and will provide comprehensive, continuous care to patients as they are transferred. Centra Care is available for rapid access to high quality medical care for injuries, acute and non-life threatening medical illnesses.

AdventHealth Wesley Chapel has recently been awarded national certification as a Primary Stroke Center by DNV Healthcare. Our team of medical professionals, who specialize in stroke, work together to quickly diagnose, treat and provide early rehabilitation to stroke patients.

Our stroke response team follows best practices to fast track patients suspected of stroke, allowing physicians to begin brain-saving treatments immediately. Every potential stroke patient gets a CT scan on the only 128-slice CT in Tampa Bay, which is dedicated to the emergency department for quicker diagnosis.

To expedite care, it’s important to be prepared with the necessary information our emergency room staff needs to begin diagnosis and treatment. Please bring the following information with you in case of an emergency:

1. Insurance Card
2. Photo I.D.
3. Name and phone number of your primary care doctor
4. A list of medications you currently take and any drug allergies
5. Advance directives: Living Will, Do-Not-Resuscitate orders and Power of Attorney.

When you arrive at the AdventHealth Wesley Chapel emergency room, the first thing to expect is assessed by a registered nurse (RN) to evaluate your medical condition to determine the order in which patients will be seen. The most immediate, life-threatening conditions will be seen first. The nurse will ask for your information and check your vital signs.

Hopefully, your trip to the emergency room will be the only medical attention you'll need for a while. If your injury or condition requires further treatment, however, our care navigators will help connect you with follow-up care wherever you live. As part of our mission to provide whole-person care, we're here to not only heal your body. We want to help ease your mind and minister to your spirit, as well.

For less critical situations, such as minor headaches, sprains, and flu, you can visit our Urgent Care center in Wesley Chapel, where we offer services like imaging, basic lab, and vaccinations. Our highly skilled medical teams are ready to help you with a range of minor ailments, including:

• Cuts That Need Stitches

To make your care more convenient, we accept most major insurance plans, and we don’t require you to make an appointment before visiting Urgent Care. Everything we do is designed to make your care easier and more empowering.

You have options. In our Walgreens Express Care clinics, we offer vaccines, physicals, and treatments for a number of minor injuries, illnesses, and skin conditions. Our Express Care clinics are open seven days a week with convenient daytime and evening hours, in a number of locations throughout Pasco County. You can schedule an appointment in advance or on the same day. You're also welcome to just walk in.

In our Walgreens Express Care clinics, we provide care for those 18 months and older, treating a range of conditions, including:
