AdventHealth Waterman is the first and only hospital in Lake County to provide cancer patients with a Cancer Care Navigator as part of their comprehensive AdventHealth Waterman Cancer Institute services.
Cancer Care Navigators are specially trained nurses who guide patients through their entire treatment and recovery process. They are nationally certified by the Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators and provide complementary services including connecting patients with resources and support services, serving as a constant link between patients and their healthcare team, answering questions, explaining information, providing overall support, coordinating medical appointments, and assisting with insurance questions.
Our team is very happy to have the Cancer Care Navigator program available for our patients, says Leslie Maxwell, Director, AdventHealth Waterman Cancer Institute. We believe the journey toward wellness involves the whole person - mind, body and spirit and it’s important for us to provide counseling, support groups and educational services for our patients, their families and caregivers.
We are providing the highest level of care to patients right here in their community by pairing them with a knowledgeable, compassionate advocate, that helps them navigate the myriad of decisions a patient makes following a cancer diagnosis. says Abel Biri, Chief Executive Officer, AdventHealth Waterman. This is one more resource we are providing our community in our quest to simplify a complex healthcare system and make it easy for our patients to receive high-quality care.
