Urgent Care Or ER: How To Identify An Emergency
When you’re paralyzed with pain, when you’re watching your loved one struggle to breathe, or when you’re staring at a broken leg, it can be hard to think clearly. Luckily, for residents of Lake County, help isn’t far away.
If you're uncertain of what to do, it's always best to play it safe with your health. Call 911 to head to the closest emergency room. The ER at AdventHealth Waterman, formerly Florida Hospital Waterman, in Tavares, Florida, has 35 private rooms, onsite x-ray, CT scan and ultrasound, and an onsite lab and pharmacy. For critical conditions, care is only minutes away from your arrival. We provide emergency medical treatments for many conditions, including:
- Complicated Fractures
- Deep Wounds
- Extreme Difficulty Breathing
- Head Injury
- Severe Allergic Reactions
- Severe Burns
- Suspected Heart Attack
- Suspected Stroke
- Vomiting or Coughing Up Blood
With compassion, skill, and experience, our team combines the latest medical technology with years of practice to bring you faster, safer healing. Whether you need a simple scan or a life-saving surgery, our ER team ready to care for you.
What To Expect When You Visit The ER
If a medical emergency happens, you're going to have a lot of questions. We’ll gladly talk over your concerns and answer your questions so that you may have peace of mind. We’ll also have some questions for you, because the more information we have, the better we can help you. After obtaining basic information like your name, date of birth, medical history, and the reason for your visit, we'll check your vital signs and decide on the safest, fastest way to bring you relief.
Just to be prepared, you may want to keep an information card with you at all times, perhaps in your wallet or purse. Include the name and number of your primary care physician, a list of your medications and drug allergies, and any advance directives you may have, such as health care proxy or power of attorney. Knowing all the facts will help us give better, safer care, faster.
In our Lake County emergency room, we prioritize which patients receive treatment first using a process called triage. This means a later-arriving patient suffering from a suspected stroke may receive care before a patient with less serious symptoms. But you can trust that our highly experienced ER staff will do all they can to reduce emergency room wait times and bring you relief as quickly as possible.
- Urgent Care for Urgent Needs
While our 24 hour emergency room provides fast care for critical conditions and major injuries, our Urgent Care center in Lake County offers treatment for less serious ailments like sprains, allergies, and minor cuts. You can count on our highly skilled Urgent Care team to provide support for a range of illnesses and injuries, including:
- Allergic Reactions and Hives
- Cold, Flu, and Common Illnesses
- Cuts That Need Stitches
- Disease Management
- Minor Cuts (Onsite Stitches Available)
- Sprains, Strains, and Fractures
- Stomach and Digestive Conditions
Emergencies don’t come at convenient times, which is why we don’t require you to schedule an appointment before visiting your local Urgent Care center. We accept most major insurance plans, making your care easier on your wallet. You can also find preventative care in our Urgent Care centers. We offer services like flu shots, physical exams, and x-rays, because we’re committed to keeping our Florida community healthy — now, and in the future.
