At AdventHealth, we understand that a breast cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming. That's why we are committed to providing a comprehensive, team-based approach to breast cancer care for women across Western North Carolina. Our program is designed to support you every step of the way, ensuring you receive the highest quality care and feel empowered throughout your journey.
A Collaborative Care Model
As an accredited cancer program through the Commission on Cancer and an accredited breast program through the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, AdventHealth may be required to have a team approach to cancer care. But for our oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, nurses, and patient navigators, a team approach is second nature in their commitment to care for every person with uncommon compassion. The team approach to care means that our patients benefit from the expertise of this multidisciplinary team of specialists. Each member of the team plays a crucial role in your care, working together to develop and implement a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.
Educating and Empowering Patients
One of the key goals of our Team Approach to Breast Cancer program is to educate patients about the various medical disciplines and providers they will encounter during their cancer journey. We understand that receiving a cancer diagnosis can make you feel like you're drowning in information and appointments. To alleviate these feelings of anxiety, we provide a concrete document or map with faces and titles, allowing patients to have a direct pathway and understand the next players on the next step of their journey. This helps patients feel more in control and confident about their care.
Promoting Awareness and Support
Our program also increases awareness about the benefits of multidisciplinary collaborative care. By communicating the roles of team members, we help patients and providers connect effectively and build relationships. We believe that it takes a village to treat a cancer patient, but we do not want our patients to get lost in the village. You can count on your team to support you during your cancer treatment and help you maintain a sense of autonomy.
Staying Connected
To keep our promise to provide exceptional, whole-person cancer care to every patient, AdventHealth Hendersonville has held the National Accreditation Program for Breast Center (NAPBC) continuously since 2009. The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons has awarded our Cancer Services team its accreditation continuously since 2007.
At AdventHealth, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care to women facing breast cancer. Our Team Approach to Breast Cancer program is designed to support you every step of the way, helping you navigate your journey with confidence and peace of mind.
