The moments just after birth are some of the most precious. When your baby needs extra monitoring and attention, our Level II neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is ready to provide expert care and watchful eyes. Staffed 24 hours a day with specialized neonatal care nurses and neonatologists, the Daytona Beach NICU is designed to care for babies born at or after 32 weeks who weigh more than 3.3 pounds, as well as babies with certain health problems, including the need for short-term ventilator-assisted breathing.
Our Inpatient Services
Child Life Specialists
Our Child Life Specialists work with the clinical team to reduce stress and create an environment that helps support your child’s emotional and physical health. With age-appropriate education and therapeutic play, your child can feel comforted and better understand their treatment and medical care.
When an IV drip is needed to treat moderate to severe dehydration, we’ll put your child at ease. We’ll explain the process, helping them understand why it’s needed and hold their hand through it all, ensuring they are back to safe hydration levels.
If there are concerns with your newborn’s heart, we offer same-day ECHO scans with the support of the AdventHealth for Children pediatric cardiology team. The cardiologist can review the scans and provide guidance for any required treatment or next steps in care.
Children who suffer from gastroenterology conditions can now receive care within our hospital. Our team can perform on-site endoscopies and colonoscopies, which allow us to diagnose and treat diseases such as Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis and provide your child with comfort and care.
General and Orthopedic Surgery
You don’t have to travel far for general or orthopedic surgical needs. Our surgeons can provide services for pediatric patients who are school-aged or older. Combined with our surgical and orthopedic specialists available at the on-site specialty clinic, your child can receive care close to home.
Whether you need imaging services for a congenital condition or an incidental fracture, we can provide your child with care right at the hospital. In addition to offering general imaging services, our team also has the capability to perform MRIs that do not require sedation.
To treat your newborn’s jaundice, we use phototherapy. This treatment makes it easier for your baby's liver to break down bilirubin and remove it from their blood. This service is also provided to discharged patients who are unable to see a pediatrician on time.
Our team is prepared to provide your child with care for any and all respiratory related conditions including asthma, pneumonia, RSV and more. This also includes care for children who have tested positive for COVID-19. Additionally, we provide high flow oxygen for ill respiratory patients.
