Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at AdventHealth for Children, formerly Florida Hospital for Children. We are very pleased that you want to contribute to our efforts to provide superior care in the community. We are happy to offer our volunteers some unique and highly rewarding opportunities.

  • Arts in Motion

    Providing creative opportunities for patients, families, and visitors at the bedside, playrooms and lobbies.

  • Pediatric Surgery Concierge

    Greets and directs patients and families, engages patients and siblings in play opportunities, provide additional family and patient needs.

  • Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit

    Facilitate playroom and bedside activities for patients and siblings.  Assisting the Child Life Specialist when needed e.g. organizing, restocking, cleaning, etc.

  • Pet Therapy Leader

    No pet required! Leads pet therapy volunteers to visit the patients and families throughout AdventHealth for Children in order to create the human and animal connection.

  • Pediatric Outpatient Procedure Unit

    Engaging patients in age appropriate activities at the bedside.  Present volunteer services to families and visitors.

  • Neonatal Intensive Care Infant Cuddler

    Provides affection, love, and warmth to patients and families in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Assist staff with daily tasks as needed.

Volunteer Application Process

Step 1: Print and complete the Volunteer Application packet. Please bring the completed application packet to your volunteer interview.

Step 2: Complete online AdventHealth for Children orientation HERE.

Please bring a copy of completion certificate with you to your volunteer interview.

Step 3: Gather paperwork to be turned in at you interview to include:

  • Your Social Security Card
  • Your picture ID (name must match social security card)
  • Proof of vaccinations for measles, rubella, varicella and hepatitis B. NOTE: Individuals born before 1957 do not need to provide proof of vaccinations.)
  • Your original birth certificate (if you are under 18 years of age)
  • Two letters of recommendation

Pet Therapy Volunteers must also bring:

  • Your pet
  • Copies of your dog's updated medical records (rabies, distemper, Bordetella and negative fecal exam)
  • Copy of your agency membership/registration (Approved agencies: Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International, Intermountain Therapy Animals and Alliance of Therapy Dogs)
