Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation
Pelvic floor rehabilitation is a noninvasive treatment option that has been found to be up to 80 percent successful in restoring functionality to the muscles that support the bladder and other pelvic organs when age, childbirth or disease has compromised the strength of these important structures. Some of the methods that your health care provider may prescribe include specially designed exercises for the pelvic floor muscles (Kegel exercises), dietary changes and bladder re-training. Once engaged in a rehabilitation program, the patient typically sees results within approximately one month or less. Patients with urinary incontinence may be instructed to undergo pelvic floor rehabilitation before considering a more invasive, surgical option.
