Neck problems in children can include common neck pain – which may be related to muscle strains or sprains, trauma or an infection that causes swelling of the glands in the neck – as well as a condition known as torticollis (“stiff neck”) that can be caused by sleeping in a poor position or in some cases may be due to a congenital condition. Other causes of neck pain in kids can be indicative of a more serious health problem such as meningitis, tick bites, tumors, Lyme disease or rheumatoid arthritis. Our pediatric spine specialists can diagnose, evaluate and treat all manner of such disorders using state-of-the-art imaging techniques, conservative therapies such as physical rehabilitation and – when needed – minimally invasive surgical procedures.
