Chest pain in children should be evaluated by your primary care physician for possible referral to a cardiologist or pediatric cardiologist, but is not necessarily related to a heart condition. In fact, digestive problems (such as gastroesophageal reflux or heartburn), lung-related issues, viruses such as chickenpox, a panic attack and certain muscle and bone issues may cause a child to complain of chest discomfort.
