Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma is a form of lymph node cancer (lymphoma) that is similar to but more common than Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Both conditions cause painless swelling of the lymph nodes along with other symptoms such as fevers, weight loss and night sweats. Because of the different way that the two lymphoma types progress in the body, the non-Hodgkins variety is not usually diagnosed until it has reached a more advanced stage – making it somewhat more difficult to treat. Treatments for this disease may include a “wait and see” approach with regular evaluations to see whether any progression has occurred, followed by chemotherapy, radiation therapy and/or stem cell transplantation.
