Due to the snowstorm impacting our area, some health care operations have changed for the safety of our patients, their loved ones and our team members. View the latest updates here.
Primary care physicians and dermatologists can remove small moles, warts and other skin lesions via in-office procedures where the patient receives just a local anesthetic and no stitches are required. Depending on the type and size of the lesion, it may be removed via shaving or scraping with a scalpel, snipping with surgical scissors, freezing or burning it off, or via chemical treatments. When necessary, our physicians can also perform a biopsy on suspicious skin growths to determine whether cancer or another skin disease is present. Both cancerous and benign lesions can be removed in the office. You should not try to remove a mole, skin tag or other skin growth at home because of the risk of excessive bleeding, scarring and possible infection.
