Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Lesion Destruction

Warts and precancerous lesions that form as a result of the sexually transmitted disease known as human papillomavirus (HPV) can be removed by select physicians who specialize in one or more forms of medical treatment for this condition. Options include freezing the lesions via cryotherapy, surgical excision, laser surgery, medicated creams and electrocautery that burns the lesions off using a mild electrical current. Importantly, the removal of genital warts does not cure a person of HPV. The warts may return following treatment, and patients without any lesions or warts can still transmit the virus to their partners.
