Some of our physician practices work closely with a thrombosis clinic to provide their patients with the most comprehensive and effective management of deep vein thrombosis. Such clinics specialize in treating patients with bleeding and clotting disorders, and they can be extremely helpful in providing patient education, access to ongoing clinical trials, medication reviews, and investigational expertise to determine the causes of a patient’s clotting disorder. Young patients who have been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and those with complicated conditions may require the long-term, ongoing services of a deep vein thrombosis clinic, though others may be referred by their primary care physician for review of their condition just one to two times per year.
