In a heartwarming display of community spirit, AdventHealth Volunteers donated $10,000 to the AdventHealth Waterman Foundation on Dec. 12.
The volunteers raised these funds by selling linens, books, baked goods and jewelry.
“It is so rewarding to see how our hard work translates into real support for the hospital and its mission,” said Pat Lannon, Foundation board secretary and volunteer.
Lannon noted that previous donations had helped fund the hospital’s inpatient rehabilitation expansion and cardiac robot-assisted operating table.
“We’re proud of the role we play in the hospital’s healing ministry,” she added.
The AdventHealth Waterman volunteer team, managed by Karen Ivison, includes nearly 200 individuals.
“Our volunteers have a passion for helping others,” said Ivison. “Each event was a great success thanks to their organizing and hard work.”
The $10,000 donation was presented to the AdventHealth Waterman Foundation Board of Trustees, a group of 16 community leaders who oversee the hospital’s philanthropic efforts.
In 2023, the Foundation invested over $2 million in the community, enhancing AdventHealth Waterman’s cardiology care, endoscopy, and radiology imaging technology. These funds also provided education grants, contributions to the cancer benevolent fund, and financial crisis assistance to team members.
“This generous donation from our volunteers is a shining example of the power of community,” said Mabel Valdivia, executive director of the AdventHealth Waterman Foundation. “These funds will go directly toward caring for our neighbors.”
Since 1985, the AdventHealth Waterman Foundation has funded various areas to build a healthier community and elevate patient care. The volunteers’ efforts – and the recent $10,000 gift – help continue that tradition.
