Three AdventHealth hospitals across Volusia County earned national honors from The Leapfrog Group — reassuring families that safe, high-quality care is always close to home.
AdventHealth DeLand, AdventHealth Fish Memorial, and AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach each received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit that evaluates how well hospitals protect patients from medical errors, injuries and infections.
Together, these achievements reflect years of teamwork, compassion and dedication to protecting patients and strengthening local trust.
“Each of these honors reflects how deeply our teams care for the people who count on us,” said Lorenzo Brown, president and CEO for AdventHealth’s operations in West Volusia, North Lake and Sumter counties. “Our goal is simple — to make sure our neighbors and loved ones can count on safe, reliable care right here at home.”
For AdventHealth DeLand, the recognition marks 22 consecutive A grades since 2015, one of the longest streaks in the region. AdventHealth Fish Memorial achieved its 21st straight A, while AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach continues its steady progress with a fourth consecutive A, showing years of consistent improvement.
“Behind every grade or award are countless small moments that keep people safe,” said David Weis, president and CEO of AdventHealth’s operations in East Volusia, Flagler and St. Johns counties. “It’s the attention to detail, the compassion in each interaction and the teamwork that help our patients heal and feel whole.”
Leapfrog assigns grades and awards to nearly 3,000 hospitals nationwide twice a year, using more than 30 national measures of safety and quality. The program is independently reviewed, fully transparent and free for anyone to explore.
