"I am right where God wants me to be.” A parent’s cancer diagnosis can be more than just significant. It can be life-motivating. Abby Nicholson’s experience inspired her to work in health care.
“I remember the staff at different facilities and how much they would go the extra length to take care of not just my mother but my whole family,” Nicholson said. “Some of the doctors and nurses became like family.”
Despite losing her mother two years ago, she found herself wanting to be a light for others experiencing life’s dark moments. “In those moments we need people that care and are willing to go the extra length for good care,” Nicholson said.
On a whim, Nicholson decided to apply for a position with AdventHealth Redmond, where she landed a rewarding job that she loves.
“I get to help patients get ready for whatever they are having done,” Nicholson said. “If I can make them smile while they sit in my office and relieve some nerves with a laugh, it makes everything all worth it.”
