NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., September 15, 2016 Florida Hospital New Smyrna has selected Sound Physicians to provide hospitalist services for the 112-bed New Smyrna Beach hospital.
Hospitalists are physicians whose primary professional focus is the general medical care of hospitalized patients. These physicians work in the hospital, caring for inpatients, and can be more readily available to patients than a doctor who has their own office. By focusing on the care of hospitalized patients, a hospitalist has experience and expertise on the unique aspects of a patient's needs during a hospital stay.
Sound Physicians, a healthcare organization focused on improving quality and lowering cost throughout the acute episode of care, will employ a team of hospitalists, including a chief hospitalist, as well as a hospitalist nurse focused on driving performance improvements and patient satisfaction efforts. Collaborating with Florida Hospital New Smyrna leadership, Sound Physicians will implement a quality performance model designed to improve quality, satisfaction and financial performance for the hospital.
