Access to kidney care in Flagler County is expanding with the arrival of Dr. Mohammed Mahgoub, who has joined AdventHealth Medical Group and is now caring for patients in Palm Coast.
Kidney health touches more lives than many realize. From controlling blood pressure to filtering waste from the body, healthy kidneys are like the quiet custodians of overall well-being. When they fail, other health problems quickly follow.
For a community where nearly one-third of residents are over the age of 65, timely access to this type of specialty care can make all the difference.
Mahgoub, a board-certified kidney specialist with more than 13 years of experience, brings advanced training in transplant medicine and complex kidney conditions from the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, as well as a fellowship at Baylor Scott and White in Texas.
“What excites me about joining AdventHealth is its whole-person approach to care,” Mahgoub said. “It’s not only about treating a condition, but also supporting patients in ways that restore their strength and spirit. That philosophy matches my own values and the kind of medicine I believe in.”
As he settles into the Palm Coast community, Mahgoub said he looks forward to ensuring patients here have access to the latest treatments without leaving the region.
“My goal is for someone in Palm Coast to feel confident they can get the same level of care they’d expect in a major city, but close to home,” he said.
AdventHealth Medical Group is a network of nearly 450 physicians and advanced practice providers across Flagler, Volusia and Lake counties. They represent more than 30 specialties and cared for over one million patient visits in 2024.
For local families, AdventHealth Medical Group means being able to find everything from primary care to advanced specialty medicine under one umbrella — with doctors who work closely together across the region.
“Bringing physicians like Dr. Mahgoub to our community helps ensure patients can be seen and treated sooner for complex kidney conditions,” said Denyse Bales-Chubb, president and CEO, AdventHealth Flagler and St. Johns counties. “This kind of specialty care is vital for our neighbors, many of whom are managing chronic health concerns.”
Mahgoub earned his medical degree from the University of Khartoum in Sudan, completed his residency at Western Reserve Health Education in Ohio, and pursued advanced training in transplant and glomerular diseases at Mayo Clinic. Fluent in English and Arabic, he has also contributed to medical research and volunteered with both the Sudanese Ministry of Health and Meals on Wheels in Texas.
Mahgoub is now seeing patients at AdventHealth Medical Group Nephrology, 120 Cypress Edge Drive, Suite 201, Palm Coast. Appointments may be scheduled by calling Call386-231-4017.
