DELAND, Fla., February 9, 2016 Florida Hospital DeLand has named general surgeon Dr. Thomas M. Corbyons as chief of medical staff.
The role of chief of medical staff plays a very important role in a hospital, said Tim Cook, Florida Hospital DeLand chief executive officer. The physicians that practice at Florida Hospital DeLand choose a member of the medical staff that they trust and respect to represent them and work closely with the hospital administration to continuously improve the quality and safety of care. They graciously give of their time for two years in a commitment to the health of their community.
The two-year term began on Jan. 1. Corbyons replaces internal medicine physician Dr. Samuel Edwards who will now become Florida Hospital DeLand's credentials committee chairman.
Corbyons earned his medical degree from St. Georges University and completed his general surgery residency at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
